• UT Austin students initiated Big & Mini to combat loneliness during COVID lockdowns. This platform connects older adults ("Bigs") and youth ("Minis") through video calls. Signing up is easy, involving account creation and automatic matching based on shared interests.

2. Sharing Smiles: Pen Pals to Brighten Someone’s Day

• Empowering the Ages' Sharing Smiles initiative helps individuals find pen pals across generations. Participants can sign up to be matched with someone of a different generation, engaging in various activities like writing joint stories and sharing artwork. 

3. DOROT’s Caring Calls: Make a New Phone Buddy

• DOROT's Caring Calls engage volunteers wanting to connect with older adults through phone or video chat. To volunteer, complete a form, attend an online orientation, and provide references.

4. Eldera: Homework Help and Bonding Virtually

• Eldera pairs kids (ages 5-15) with older adults (age 60+) for virtual story times, schoolwork help, or friendly chats. Parents and older adults can register, and Eldera facilitates matches based on interests and availability.

5. Letters Against Isolation: Handwritten Letters to Seniors

• Letters Against Isolation encourages volunteers to send handwritten letters to seniors in care facilities. Volunteers can choose the center to send letters to and are encouraged to write as many letters as they’d like.

6. CIRKEL Up: Mentor or Network Across Generations

• CIRKEL, an intergenerational platform, connects older and younger professionals for mentoring, networking, and friendship through CIRKEL Up. Candidates are interviewed to facilitate matches for a two-way learning exchange.

7. Table Wisdom: Conversational English Practice

• Table Wisdom connects older adults with foreign-born students for professional mentoring and conversational English practice.

8. UPchieve: Academic Coaching for Low-Income High School Students

• UPchieve connects volunteer academic coaches with low-income high school students for free, virtual tutoring and counseling. Volunteers set their schedules and receive text notifications when a student needs help.

9. CareerVillage.org: Share Career Advice with Underrepresented Youth

• CareerVillage.org connects professionals with underrepresented youth seeking career advice. Volunteers create profiles and specify the types of questions they would like to answer.
